 Pasir Gudang Kite Museum (Malay: Muzium Layang-Layang) 

The first museum in Malaysia to present a history of kites. It has been opened since 2002 as a monument to all kiters throughout the world. An exhibition includes a lot of colorful kites, information posters and video about Pasir Gudang International Kite Festival. The museum has an unique working windmill whose mechanism works to generate enough electricity to supply the daily needs of the museum.

 The best time to visit Pasir Gudang Kite Museum is February, when there is a World Kite Festival holding. This internationally acclaimed event has been hosted continuously since 1995.

After visiting this place you will know that kites appear in the culture and history of many countries around the world.




Do not forget to bring a kite – outside the museum there is a field for flying a kite. It’s also a venue of the Annual International Kite Festival:
Kites have been worshipped as religious symbols, used as instruments of war, been developed as practical tools and simply provided a source of entertainment and enjoyment.

Well this is a must if your ever visiting the Industrial Heartland of Johor Bahru. The Kite Museum is housed in a purpose built building situated in one of the best parks in Johor. It holds a massive collection of kites from all around the world, all with plenty of information next to each exhibit, written in both Malay and English. If anyone will be visiting Johor Between the 20th and 24th February 2014 you must attend the annual International Kite Festival. Hundreds of kite enthusiasts meet up from around the world to show us what real kite flying is all about.
