Best Putu Piring in Johor !!!!!!

This putu piring stall is situated along Jalan Langkasuka in Larkin, Johor Bahru in the compound of the family home of the very warm and friendly Encik Bakar. Encik Bakar said he has been doing putu piring (since 1971) for more than 30 years in the same traditional way.

They were smooth, delicately sweet pillows from Gula Melaka. There was a little bit of salt applied to the grated coconut. The yellowish appetising colour came from the turmeric powder applied to the rice flour. My taste buds were introduced to an unusual combination of flavours and texture by consuming the soft and sweet putu piring along with the slightly salty and tender grated coconut. With a teh tarik, I readily polished off 5 putu pirings (for RM2) even with a 3⁄4 tank full tummy. (RM4 for 5 bits, 2019 price.)
