If Kuala Lumpur has National Art Gallery and Malacca has Upside Down House, here in Johor, we have Johor Art Gallery.



So, bacisally this art gallery building was built in 1910. The building at once became the base for the Japanese Imperial Army during the Japanese Occupation of Malaya. The building used to be the official residence of the Chief Minister of Johor, Abdullah Jaafar. Afterwards, the Johor State Government decided to preserve the building by turning it into an art gallery and thus the Johor Art Gallery was opened on 29 January 1994 by Chief Minister Muhyiddin Yasin. In 2000–2003, it was closed for renovation and reopened again on 6 May 2003 by Chief Minister Abdul Ghani Othman. 



At first, this gallery used to display historical artifacts about arts and cultures of Johor. However, now it became the center for arts and cultures. Although nowadays it is rare now for anyone to has interested in visiting places like this, but I honestly think that you guys should give a try especially for aesthetic people. This is because you guys can take a lot of pictures, selfie and wefie for your Instagram, Facebook and other platforms of your social media.



This art gallery is also a perfect place for an introvert person because I am pretty sure that you guys find it preferable to go to museum or gallery alone unless you guys with someone who has a similar attitude or you specifically want to show it to them. Likewise, it’s better to go at quiet times, such as on weekdays. You have more space, the staff are likely to be more accommodating and there’s no obstruction and most importantly, you will be able to admire the arts.



So, what are you waiting for? Grab what you needs and you are ready to go. Oh, before I forget, the art gallery opens everyday except Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. free of charge.
